My husband and I have been discussing the potential of having another child since our second son was born. Part of the reason why we haven’t decided to go for it is because our two boys are only 11 months apart and for the last few years it’s taken everything we’ve got to be there just for them. Also, as for us all at some point, my age has come into play. I have just turned 40 and while I’m not ancient, I fully realize the risks have increased.

Our sons are now 3 and 4 and “things” have started to get a bit easier. As a result, we also discussed starting our own business, a dream we have had for a number of years. We wanted to do something that we would be passionate about, something that we believed in, something that was exciting. And this something needed to have a “do good” factor. Of course doing something pertaining to children makes perfect sense, but what? It wasn’t until one January evening, while musing over a bottle of Prosecco, that the Bish Bash Books idea came to us and our third baby was “conceived”.

Reading is such an enjoyable thing for my husband and I to do with our boys. We read to them 2 or 3 times a day. Very early on I could tell this was going to be one of our favorite things to do together. Why is reading such a pleasure? Maybe it was the feeling I got when the boys picked up a book and brought it to me. No words were needed, I knew what they wanted. Or maybe it’s the feeling of joy I feel when a little girl we don’t even know sits next to us to hear a story we are reading at the park. Or maybe it’s simply the joy I see on our boy’s faces when we say, “OK guys, it’s time for milk, books and night-night!” They really get excited to read their favorite books.

Every child should love to read. By this I mean every child should have the opportunity to sit with a loved one and spend quality time together. Every child should be able to travel to imaginary far off places, or meet their heroes, or learn about legends and take exciting adventures. Every child should be able to experience that! Although the jury is still out on a third child for us we have managed to conceive a baby named Bish Bash Books. Welcome to the world Bish Bash. Our dreams are that through you we will be able to help children all around the world to read, love to read and love to be read to… one story at a time!
